COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Note: Formerly known as Rittmayer Hallerndorfer Raiterla Rauchbier and Rittmayer Rauchbier. 12°. 38 EBC.

Light amber, misty, poor foam. The nose is rather gentle, just some crushed peppercorn and some toasted grain. Nice meaty smokiness in the taste, juicy pastrami, with some light caramel and some faint nail polish. Some hints of baked apple, too. Aftertaste has just some light smokiness, but otherwise it’s pretty clean. Refreshing, but it lacks depth. Not as good as the old version.

Aroma is dominated by caramel with notes of butterscotch. Deep amber in the glass with frothy off-white head. Taste is semi sweet with notes of caramel, some bready touch, dried fruit and gentle smokiness in the background, however beer is bit watery. Nothing special at all, caramel is my enemy in that kind of styles.

0,5 l bottle. Clear amber in the glass, long lasting head. Taste is real smokey, also malty, some present fruitieness. Okay for that kind of stuff.

Attractive ruby-amber color, very subtle smoke character in the nose, low bitterness, low to medium residual sweetness, light tangy-bready acidity... A fairly easy drinking beer but it could have more to say.
