Tasted at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado. Good flavors, close to style, as expected without too many surprises. Iphonephan (7471) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JUL 2, 2016
From a 22 oz bottle at home. Pours black with a tan head. Toasted oat aroma. Flavors of cocoa, coffee and dark fruits. Uber smooth roast finish. Yum. gregwilsonstl (2704) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 20, 2016
Dark Black. Mocha head. Thick and creamy. Very dense body. Roasted. Plenty of oats. Bitter. If this was more chocolaty and less bitter, it may have hit 4 for me. Thx Ibrew2or3 DenverLogan (1299) - North Bend, Washington, USA - OCT 28, 2015
Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Delirium Noel glass. Pours black with brown head and lace. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, roasty malts. Medium carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of dark roasted malts, burnt malts, bitter roots, dark chocolate. With 20 minutes or more this beer smoothed out quite a bit and was overall very nice. slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUN 30, 2015
such a dense and heavy and complex malt profile, I had to look to see that this was not partially barrel aged. very complex. a little hot, but also decadent, roasty, raisiny good. Bittersweet throughout.

Black with a etched center and rim of tans. Smells richly of dark, roasted malts, some nougat and vanilla, a touch of coffee, plenty of dark chocolate and a bit of cocoa. Maybe a hint of leather in the nose. Flavor is bitter (maybe a little too much), and has lots of toasted malts with some dry soil and coffee grounds. Some alcohol. In the distance a bit of marshmallow. Full bodied with lighter carb and a dry finish. would certainly prefer a little more of a wet finish in this beer. Would bang again, wouldn’t probably go out of my way to do so. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - MAR 1, 2015

Tasted on 2/11/15 from a capped bomber bottle, big thanks to Chuck. Pours completely opaque, thick dark brown with a thick brown head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is primarily dark molasses, a touch of vanilla, and some burnt coffee. The flavor is really quite bitter burnt with the molasses and vanilla adding just a touch of richness. The body is full and creamy with average, smooth carbonation, and a long very bitter burnt coffee and touch of vanilla finish.
