We tend to do things a little differently here at Ritual, so when the call came in to make a new style Red ale, we immediately deferred to the full-flavored segment of the taste spectrum. We certainly didn’t skimp on the malts (after all, we used eight different varieties), giving this beer a multi-layered complexity of caramel and toffee.

Balancing out the malty backbone required hops, hops and even a few more hops. The result is a rich, layered, full-bodied beer bringing together a classically complex malt backbone with an assertive West Coast finish. 1.060 O.G.

Pours a thin head on a cloudy dark red body. Aroma is wonderful. A mixture of caramel, toast, wood, lemon and cereal. Taste is a complex mixture of malts, though not that sweet. It’s like a great slice of bread in liquid form. Texture is thicker. This is really good and deep.

This was my first from Ritual Brewing. It’s a good dark amber and develops a nice head with lots of laceing. Good flavors lightly hopped easy drinking.

Good tasting red. Can drink longer than most while keeping taste and aroma at a better level than most

Gription79 (2891) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - DEC 10, 2016
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle.
The aroma is super yeasty, some toasted malts and not much else.
This beer poured cloudy brown with a tan head.
The flavor is yeasty, toasted malts, sticky bitterness, the bitterness lingers for ever, not very pleasant.

I do not think this beer was handled very well. However, it was so muddled that I will not be buying it again.

12oz bottle from the state store
Pours clear amber with a red tint, medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Aroma isn’t inviting, solvent, malty and oranges. Flavor of malty, grapefruit, oranges and resiny
Ok, but not good

Tap @ Coin-op, San Diego.
Pours dark mahogany color with a small head. Malty aroma, some orange and hops with resin. Malty flavor too, oranges, resin, pine and hops. Too malty for my taste.

Draught @ Coin-Op Game Room , San Diego, CA

Pours amber reddish with a small head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, hints of syrup and berries. Taste is smooth, malty and caramely with hints of berries, toffee and syrup. Finish is sweetish, stuffy and malty with hints of caramel. Decent.

laiti (8468) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 20, 2015
Draught @ Coin-Op, San Diego. Aroma has bready malt, hay and some bush leaves. Flavour has harsh malt and some wood. Finishes with menthol, bready malt, berries and leathery notes. Not my thing, too much berries here.

BlackHaddock (7329) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2015
30th May 2015: live rating of a bomber with a beef curry. Poured three times into a La Chouffe tulip glass. Hazy deep amber pour, lightly tanned head. Hop front to the brew however the malty molasses almost balance out the bittering hoppiness, but not quite. Bitter and semi-sweet flavours battle it out in the mouth, I liked it: not the right beer to have with a curry but a very pleasant beer all the same.
