On cask at the brewpub. 2 16 ounce samples. Roasted, espresso, coffee-like nose present with some light metallic aromas present later. Moderate to mostly opaque mahogany body with a creamy tan head that one would expect from a hand pump. Lightly sweet, choco malted flavors present to start. Becomes lightly acidic and astringent almost in the middle. This is followed by some more of the light choco-coffee roastiness. Light metallic hops are detected towards the end. A bit sweet and some might argue that this is underattenuated. Not overly robust, but very drinkable. bb (9268) - Alamo, California, USA - MAY 3, 2006
