Picked up a growler from Whats On Tap in Simpsonville. Hadn’t heard of this new brewery yet. Pours dark brown with red highlights and small khaki head that quickly becomes a ring leaving minimal lacing. Flavors are dark cherry, chocolate, roasted coffe beans, plum. Sweet with a stickiness in the lips, but not cloying. Medium body and crisp carbonation. Some burnt coffee bitterness in the finish. Overall a nice porter and I look forward to more from these guys.
Poured into flight glass a dark brown with white head and lace. Aroma of burnt coffee. Taste of coffee and a little alcohol. Aftertaste of burnt toast. Nice. geologyguy (1629) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - MAR 20, 2015
Smells like coffee...but something deeper that I can’t place...guess its just so bold perhaps..almost like msg seasoning packets in soup, burnt coffee taste with some sort of peppermint/mint taste in there...weird and unpleasant... Quick drinking suppresses it though...too chemically tasting Closs_the_man (9) - Bluffton, South Carolina, USA - FEB 21, 2015 does not count
From the way it looks, you'd expect a much heavier consistency and mouthfeel but overall it's a lot lighter than I expected. Could have been a bit sweeter, maybe used some vanilla beans to sweeten the beer, but it's definitely not a sweet desert beer like I was expecting. Slight notes of coffee and toasted chocolate shine through. Pretty decent brew.

On draft in Charleston SC, this local porter variation offers a pleasant rye-accented dark chocolate flavored brew. Pours a super dark thick appearance with a slight tan head, yet had a surprisingly light mouthfeel and thin palate. Nice complexity in the taste with a mix of chocolate malt, roasted malt, coffee grinds, spicy rye, and nutty hazelnut notes. Aroma likewise was roasted coffee and chocolate malt. Some earthy hops in the background and a sweet dry finish. Interesting, probably best enjoyed as a stand alone beer, not sure what food this could pair with. Just good overall. snoworsummer (5917) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 17, 2014
Draft at the brewery. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dry roasted malt, faint sweet chocolate, burnt coffee. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like bunt chocolate, roasted malt, and sweet syrup.

Tap at brewery. Pours dark brown with thin, fizzy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, light earthiness, raisins, dates, light spice, and faint black cherries. Flavor is dry, heavy roasted malts, dark chocolate bitterness, light earthiness and some rye spice. Medium body and carbonation. EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Pours a cola brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, but it’s subtle. Mild carbonation on the tongue. Taste is chocolate and roasted malt with very little aftertaste. Not bad but doesn’t linger. ilovedarkbeer (2744) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - AUG 28, 2014
On tap. Pours a black brown color with a bready light brown head. Notes of smoke, brownie, rye, chocolate, and caramel. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium length finish. rdixon77 (2921) - Georgia, USA - JUL 29, 2014
Nice solid porter. Black pour. Earthy and roasted malts in nose. Chocolate and spiciness (rye?) come out in the taste. Not huge on either, but well balanced. Medium mouthfeel and drinkable. Malaclemys (464) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - JUN 6, 2014
Rocket City Brewfest, black with tan head. A: coffee, chocolate, caramel, T: coffee, burnt toast, caramel. Medium body with a sweet finish.
