We start with a brown porter brewed with dark roasted malts and add one pound of chocolate per barrel. We then throw in some Madagascar Vanilla beans to accentuate the chocolate flavors, resulting in a decadent beer.

On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a deep cola brown with a thin tan head. Big cocoa, chocolate, heavy beautiful chocolate on the nose. This smells great. Medium bodied, cocoa and roast. Light sweetness, smooth roast and malt. Long cocoa finish. Surprisingly good.

12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a good lookig thicker bodied deep black and a very sparse tight foamy beige head. Aroma is rather nice, real chocolate, milk, dark grains. Body is medium but carbonation is rather fizzy and a quicker fading aftertaste. Flavor isnt quite as good as the aroma, notes of burnt malts, light chocolate, bread crusts, dry dusty grains and a hint of vanilla extract.

Bottle. It pours brown with a light brown head. The aroma is very chocolaty with cocoa powder and vanilla. The flavor is the same. Nice rich cocoa notes without being too thin or sugary, but not syrupy either. Pretty simple stuff, but crowd pleasing I guess.

ganache (6069) - New Jersey, USA - APR 4, 2015
Bottle, mine 6.5% abv. Nose is light roast, some malt backbone, and deep, rich, luxurious chocolate mixing with light cocoa powder. Pours deep ruby which settles for mere deep brown in the glass, supports a dense and rocky tan head. Sweet, extremely rich taste (like good cake, icing included), red berry mixing with faint raisin, very strong milk chocolate, deeper truffle-like chocolate, some mild orange peel. Some actual, palpable, discernible malt character here, has depth and character. Medium body, malty feel, clean with no alcohol showing, delicious dessert all by itself.

beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - JUL 12, 2012
Growler filled at Bellport Cold Beer and Soda and consumed the same day. Pours a deep brown, just about black, with a thin-moderate tan head that lasted through the first two sips and left light lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate along with a bit of malt. Make no mistake though, the chocolate definitely dominates. The flavor is equally enjoyable with ample chocolate, lightly roasted malt, and just a hint of tobacco. Mild bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. Very good.
