Draft. Deep brown body with a short, tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, lactose, cocoa powder, cream. Hint of coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, slick texture, moderate carbonation. Chocolate, light coffee and roasted malt tastes.

Draft at Stags head. Pours black with brown head. Nose of coffee mostly. Tastes of lots of coffee, chocolate, root beer, earth, slight brininess. Very creamy and roasted finish. Tmoney36 (15) - - AUG 4, 2013
Great stout with very balanced flavor. Lots of coffee, chocolate and espresso flavor. Pours black with quickly dissipating head. Great summer stout, not too heavy, smooth. For non imperial stout, this may be the best I’ve had. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - JUL 6, 2013
Bottle from a neighbor, good easy basic well made milk stout, creamy without the roastyness

Tap at the Ginger Man, NYC, 18/05/13. Listed by the GM as ’River Horse - Oatmeal Coffee Stout 6.7%’ but checking the database and reviews I figure it must be this beer as most reviews give mention to the coffee.
Mid black with a medium sized dirty tan/mocha head.
Nose is roast malt, cocoa, light coffee notes, molasses.
Taste comprises chocolate, roast malt, coffee, molasses.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, roast in the finish.
Solid enough. conway (2210) - - MAY 28, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Re-rate under correct listing. Black with a thick mocha head. Aroma is baker’s chocolate and oat. Very pleasant and balance. Taste adds some fudge but is just slightly overly bitter. Medium sticky palate. Pretty solid, but not on the level of the coffee version. gripweed57 (2314) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Growler from Canal’s in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Opaque black color with a small, brief beige head. Rich, dark roasted coffee aroma. Sweet roasted malt flavor is very coffee-like with notes of milk chocolate and toffee. Very smooth and creamy with a touch too much sweetness for my liking. Good, none the less. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle:   Pours black, thin beige head, light lacing.   Sweet roasted coffee nose, with cream and sugar.   Bright roastiness up front, definite cream and sugar, with a very soft hop aspect.   This very much comes
across as heavily sweetened black coffee.   The roasted bitterness compliments the chocolate like malt backing.   Very nice.   Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate.   Lingering sweet roastiness along with coffee and
chocolate.   Sweet, yet roasted bitterness.   One of the better River Horse brews I have had. radarsock (1190) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 29, 2013
12 FL. OZ. bottle shipped from NJ by dmac. Thanks! To snifter, it pours a rusted, charcoal dark brown: creamy buff/yellow-brown head, 1½. fingers in length. Aromas of oatmeal, tobacco, and raisins, followed by molasses, burnt toast, coffee syrup, sugar plums, and milk chocolate. Tastes of black liquorice; star anise; sweat; refined sugar; chocolate almond milk; toast. Earthiness and medicinal hops by swallow. Some plastic, too. Not bad at all. Easily drinkable.
