Tap, brewpub, backlog. Pours a mostly clear copper body with a one inch creamy beige nitro head. The nitro always suppresses the aroma to me, usually not what you want in a hoppy beer. This is no exception, but what is there is pretty nice, lots of citrusy hops, some light floral qualities, and some slight caramel. The flavor of the hops are great! Full of tropical fruits like guava and passionfruit, along with some citrus rind and pineapple. Really varied and complex hop profile. The malt stays nicely in the background, but makes for a strong backbone. Creamy nitro mouthfeel, medium to full bodied with a dank sticky hop finish. Pretty great beer! The nose still suffers a bit trying to get thru that thick creamy head, but this nitro IPA works! DiarmaidBHK (4907) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 12, 2011
Pours from tap with a large brownish white head no doubt aided by the nitrogen. Nice floral scent not overpowering very pleasant. The taste isn’t at all bitter but I’m not getting a lot of hop action either. Still for a beer that’s 7.6% it’s very balanced. The creamy mouthfeel adds to the finish where the promised hoppiness from the nose starts to express itself. On the whole it’s pretty interesting.
