3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
6 oz. tap.
Aroma is like a kid’s strawberry flavored cereal.
Taste is very even and well developed.
They flavor it with local strawberrys.
I had this at the recent 2011 "Selinsgrove Brew and Wine Festival" and I consider it my vote for "Best in Show".
This is a nice offering, not a novelty beer.
Pours a slightly pinkish hued gold body, rather cloudy, with a nice one finger frothy white head. The nose is just humongous loads of fresh strawberries, it doesn’t smell sweet or artificial at all, but it’s really intense. Some lighter wheat and yeasty notes below. The flavor isn’t very sweet at all, very different from the usual strawberry wheat. Juicy, slightly green-tasting strawberries, it reminds me of Dole Natural Strawberry Popsicles. I would actually like a little more sweetness. Wheat, fairly prominent yeast, and minimal hopping puts tbe fruit center stage. Lighter bodied with a slight creaminess, moderate fizzy carbonation. Not bad, just not my thing. I do like that it’s not the usual flavored wheat beer crap. bierkitty (167) - Elysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2011 On draft at the River House. Interesting peachy color and just a small ring of suds, with lower carbonation than I expected. The aroma was fresh strawberries and the flavor said there was no skimping on fresh fruit. The wheat base and low hoppiness allowed the strawberries to be the main attraction. Really tasty.
