22 oz bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with a small white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.
The aroma is bready malt, lots of spices (floral, corriander, and pepper) with some lemon zest.
The flavor is sweet bready malts, some tropical fruit and a lot of spice with a medium bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, interesting, but too over the top with spices and sweetness.
375ml bottle. Spicy Belgian yeast aroma with notes of stone fruit, banana and a bit of oak. Pours clear orange golden colored with a thin white head that has little retention and some lacing. Starts with bright stone fruit and banana flavors. Finishes dry but smooth with Belgian yeast spiciness and a touch of oak to round out the flavors. 22 oz bomber shared at Meade Street Station. Cloudy orange appearance with an off-white head. Aroma of oak, zesty citrus fruits, spices, herbs and yeast. Bottle. Clear golden body with a fizzy white head, lasting. Aroma of oak, toasted grain, lemon rind, cobweb, coriander, alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Taste of wood, lacquer and fusel alcohol. Cloyingly sweet and only alcohol to balance it which it doesn’t. An odd combination of flavors: sugar water, hot alcohol and wood. There’s nothing unified about it. Drain pour.

"Oaked imperial wit"? Not a style you see every day. Hazy gold. Grain, fruit and spice with a soft woody finish. Wait, is "soft woody" an oxymoron?

Aroma - Not much on the nose. fruity esters from the Belgian yeast. Slight honey/sweet aromas. No aromas from the oak barrel.
Appearance -pours from bomber a clear golden with a lingering white head
Taste - upfront acidity with a sweet flavor afterward. Traditional wit flavors - citrusy and crisp. Seems to lose a lot of its oak flavors from what you get on draft. Lingering acidity.
Mouthfeel - light bodied and crisp. Very carbonated. Slightly tart finish.
Overall - it loses a lot of its oak flavor if you've ever had it on draft. For an imperial wit, it's very good. But gets a slightly lower score because of the lack of barrel flavor. Recommended to have on draft Ernest (7887) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 27, 2014
Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly/fully diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of banana, gum, coriander, wood, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy/lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Another "blah" entry in the River North line up, like J. Marie. These two recipes clearly need revamping, whereas recent bottle samples of Avarice, Quandary, and Tripel are all solid (esp. the latter two). A strange choice to oak-age this sort of beer, as it seemingly has lost much of its aroma in doing so (but perhaps it had little to begin with). Tiny fizzy head all but disappears, so it’s not much look at, and the mouthfeel is pretty watery-syrupy and fizzy. A very dull, uninteresting, clunky beer. It was a good oak aged imperial wit, but wasn't up to what I really expected. Just fell slightly short of great in all areas.

Hazed, sunny amber body beneath a slowly fading smooth head with frothy accents, which creates dots and a few connected islands of lace
A sluggish, somewhat muted aroma opens up with traditional whit esters overlaid with slightly spicy, alcoholic oak barrel, ramped up flavors follow suit with a creamy, subdued grain sweetness accented with melon and light fruit, flowers, and light pepper, spice, and herb on a creamy-smooth, somewhat buttery, lightly carbonated, medium body finishing with a building sweet tact and clearing white pepper, some light earthy notes
