poors black with a tan head. Chocolate and oats are definitely present in nose and taste. has a watery thin mouthfeel and bitter aftertaste hotstuff (5160) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 19, 2014
Rated on 12-17-2011 (Bottle) This beer has a medium sized frothy, fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, dark brown opaque body, suspended carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and some oats. The flavor is lightly bitter, earthy hops, some chocolate, roasted malt, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation, watery and thin. This beer is light bodied. This beer’s texture is a bit thin for the style thus taking away from what might have been a tasty beer, OPIE788 (337) - Ohio, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Draft. Black with a tan head. Chocolate and raisin in the nose. I get a lot of dark fruit with a hint of coffee and chocolate. Dogbrick (13027) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Sample at Lizardville. Black pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character of coffee and malt, with a slightly tart fruit flavor in the background. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. Pour dark brown with a nice, fluffy light brown head. Aroma is creamy, roasty and a little chalky. Taste is dry; creamy and roasty with a light coffee finish. Oily. Some nice lacing. Not bad but not flavorful enough.

This bottled brew from a restaurant poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body. The aroma was roasted malt and toasted malt. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a biting roasted malt hop aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt mild hops and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. fauxpunker (76) - Florence, Kentucky, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Maybe a bad batch, but very, very over-carbonated. Every bottle practically exploded upon opening and each pour was consumed with tons of foam as a result. More on the bitter side and dry. Maybe if someone else spends the money, I’ll try it again. Definitely not a re-purchase for me. gizmo_ber (190) - Steinwenden, GERMANY - SEP 15, 2012
Taster at the brewery. Dark pour, slight head. Good mouthfeel, but seems to lack some of the stout roasted/coffee flavoring, or maybe I’ve had too many coffee stouts lately. b3shine (8878) - Indiana, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Draft to taster. Looks good; black with nice head. Smells alright; lightly Marty. Tastes decent with an average mouthfeel. Okay, but I wouldn’t seek it out again. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - APR 18, 2012
Bottle purchased at Party Source. Darkest brown pour with a huge tan head. Creamy malt and chocolate nose with a strange oxidized and lightly infected odor. Malty flavor with some slight funk that doesn’t belong before a dry, roasty coffee finish. Must have gotten a bad bottle and by looking at the other ratings, that doesn’t seem all that uncommon. Will try again when a fresh batch comes out.
