Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark amber-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Grainy malt, caramel and hops aromas. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, brown sugar and mild hops. The finish is sweet toasty malt initially, with a lingering mild hoppy taste left over. Decent overall. Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a medium sized creamy beige head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was lightly bitter and tart with a moderate vague fruity presence. The flavor was bitter, dry and nutty with a mild vague fruity note and a long, bitter and tart nutty finish. Medium body. Decent. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2010
On tap at Rivertowne. Mild malt aroma, caramel, brown sugar and some grainy bread. Dusty. Light hop character, noble? Reminiscent of an Altbier. Caramel-copper brown clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts medium sweet with light brown sugar, caramel malt, and a bit of dusty grain, some grassy hop character. Light tang with nutty sweet after and smooth finish. Kind of like a sweet Dusseldorf Altbier in profile.
