Pours really really really dark brown. Some slight caramel notes on the nose. Big flavor profile. I get some smokiness but also some raisin and licorice notes. Thin on the palate easy to drink finishes clean. Very nice. Dogbrick (13961) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 27, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours a dark brown color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Small patchy lacing on the glass. Roasty malt and coffee aroma. Medium body with a sweet roasted malt character and flavors of coffee, chocolate and hops. The finish is sweet and toasty with a mild coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall. boto (2266) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - MAY 3, 2010
Draught in Brewpub: This one pours a very dark, opaque brown color. There was a small tan head that didn’t linger very long. A bit of a lighter aroma. Some coffee, roastiness, floral hops and a hint of chocolate. The taste is also good. Some roastiness, coffee and a touch of chocolate. Very smooth ans easy drinking. UPDATED: JUL 26, 2014 Sampled on draft at the Rivertown Pub this beer poured a dark black color with a medium sized dark brown head that lingered. The aroma was malty and toasty chocolate. The flavor was toasty, malty and sweet with fairly strong chocolate and a hint of coffee. Underneath were elements of malted milk and bitter floral hops. The finish was long, toasty and malty. The body was fairly thick and smooth. Very good.
