Nice roasty attractive orama and a big black pour with creamy tan head. Bitter roasty burned wood palate and flavors. Absolutely flat. A tad over the top. I think I’m finally getting used to impy stouts. 9+% is not apparent in this brew. Quite offensive burned wet old campfire wood charred finish. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 24, 2009
Draught sample from the Pour House. Nice coffee chocolate aroma with light nutty roasted coffee and some bitter hop character. A bit of lactose sweetness. Jet black with thin cocoa head. Medium chewy with light smooth carbonation. Warming. Chocolate sweet with lactose, coffee and molasses. Sweet and smooth with nice sweet-bitter balance. Not cloying. Vanilla and even some oak. Very nice. FROTHINGSLOSH (7879) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2009
Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a dark brown head. The aroma was sweetish, creamy and lightly roasty with a hint of chocolate. The flavor was sweet, creamy, roasty and toasty with notes of floral hops and strong bitter coffee. The finish was long and creamy with malty, roasty and coffee elements. The mouthfeel was moderately thick. Interesting.
