In honor of our friend and mascot, Wylie the fish, we are hooking you up with an aggressively hopped India Pale, the staple for any fishing trip. This beer is a hop lover’s dream. Andrew Maxwell put over 1.5 decades of recipe development into this India Pale Ale, creating the fourth dimension of flavor. Combining four varieties of hops produces a unique beer that has an aggressive hop flavor, bite and aroma without denying the presence of malt which I.P.A.s often lack.

Bottle, on pour this is a hazed burnt orange color with a massive off white head that was loose while producing decent lacing. The hoppy aroma is made of bushes and vegetables. The palate has massive notes of bitterness. A solid full finish completes this beer.

can - very nice orange color. Decent hop aroma. Hop and malt flavor but something seems off - old can maybe?

The aroma is sweet and the appearance is hazy. The taste contradicts the aroma and is a bit sour. The palate is dry and not over hoppy. Overall, this is an okay IPA.

How is it, in an era where breweries are throwing C&D’s at each other all willie-nillie, that Rivertowne and Rivertown can coexist, seemingly peacefully? Or have they had their squabbles? I suppose I could google it to find out, but that’s too much effort. I’ll just choose to sit back and think everything is fine.

Pours a coppery orange with a medium head of white foam. Aroma is not very prominent. Some malts and light citrus with notes of caramel. Fairly refreshing with a malt backbone and a sharp bite at the finish. Feels like a red IPA. Pretty good. Not much pine or citrus flavors. Just a tad bitter aftertaste. Enjoyable.

can - purchased at random at Total WIne in FL. Not bad - but average for IPAs. Just didn’t do it for me

Classic IPA that lacks the citra hops and other piney or citrus hops I love. Well- crafted though. Great aroma with a standard-at-best palate. Needs fruit or complex palate to break from standard though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. can from Santa. Pours a clear dark golden/amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a big malt character up front, caramel, light toast, with some orange and grapefruit citrus, some herbal tea, hops seem a bit faded, just ok.

bubbleflubber (2241) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - AUG 4, 2015
Pours translucent orange-amber into the glass with a wispy head that leaves ring lacing. The nose is of caramel and oranges. Flavors are citrusy (bright), grassiness, caramel and a grassy, lightly peppering bitter finish. The mouthfeel is semi-active and the palate is semi-juicy. Goes down well with a medium body. What it lacks in complexity, it slightly redeems itself in drinkability, especially in the hot summer months.

Canned. No clear date. Pours honey golden, off-white head, pillowy. Aroma is malt forward, caramel notes, light orange, pineapple, lemon citrus notes, bready notes. Flavor is actually fairly hop forward, definite bite. Caramel malt, fairly bready middle of the mouth, slight hop finish. Ok.

This is a great session IPA, brings a nice malt flavor with a touch caramel and a bitter hops that is not overpowering nor too potent, for a casual drinker ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
