UPDATED: MAR 17, 2011 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a red-orange color with a trace of a white head that faded quickly. The aroma was lightly sweet, malty and fruity. Blah. This is not O/M. Aroma was weak. Could barely pick up anything except a maple syrup like aroma. Pour was a deep amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was awful. Thin and syrupy with hot caramel malt and a hot alky aftertaste. Very thin and little to no carbonation. Clear orange with a tinge of red. Barely any aroma but at times I detect volatile hydrocarbons, in a good way of course. Fairly strong initial alky impact but not like the 8+% listed here. Much more than your father’s Oktoberfest. Finish? Has a hint of ’fest but mostly it’s noticeably medicinal and alky.
