A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, smooth dark chocolate with grassy notes, choco-bar. In mouth, nice milk chocolate with herbal notes, nice and smooth, alcohol warmth. Tasted Dec. 15 2012.

Nice cocoa flavors, decent roastiness, but it is thin and super overcarbonated.

Big bottle, shared around the table over a fresh lobster dinner at my parents place in New Brunswick. Hearty, viscous near black pour with a dense medium brown head. Aroma is burnt malt, chocolate liquor, light aniseed, light soy sauce. The palate is more sweet than it is brothy, chocolate, coffee, chalk, light aniseed, light wood. Lively carbo in a heavy body. Warm finish that avoids harshness.

My Bottom Line:
This deeply roasty Imperial Stout takes dark chocolate and coffee flavors to peppery and raisiny edges for a very satisfying sipping experience.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the deep black.
-The nose also recalls black sesame.
-The Belgian yeast is discreet under all that roast and rich sugars.
-Fruitiness remains light throughout.

Bottle; 2013 version.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt notes with some bitter black chocolate notes is pleasant enough. Taste is also dominated by dry roasted malt with some bitter black chocolates notes. Belgian yeast provides light and quite subtle fruity notes with some cocoa also noticeable. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nice take of the style.

Eructoblaster (4045) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 17, 2012
Bottle - 750ml. Opaque, perfectly black body with low carbonation and a thich brown frothy head. Rich, complex malty/hoppy aroma with grainy, yeasty, and woody hints. Alcohol is noticeable but not too agressive. Its sharp hoppy taste carries liquorous, plummy, and coffeeish notes. Ends with a long, robust, warming bittersweet/roasty finish. Interesting.
