Like the Blonde d'Achouffe brewed by Le Cheval Blanc, this beer is not a copy of the original Chouffe family, but a beer brewed in cooperation with and in honor of the Belgian micro.

Brown with offwhite head. Aroma is spicey and yeasty. Malty and bready with a decent amount of spice in the flavour. Well balanced but lacking any outright specialness.

750mL bottle, best before July 14th, 2017, drunk 9/6/15.
I assume this is a 3 year coding thus making this one a bit over one year old. Typical BSA bottle conditioned pour yields tons of dense cinnamon-colored head with moderate retention, topping a dark brown body, with good clarity, and showing chestnut/auburn highlights on the edges.
Cinnamon, black pepper, clove and vanilla phenols all make their appearance in the nose, in general harmony with each other and the candy-like maltiness redolent of brown sugar, plums and dates. No alcohol to be found in the nose and clean, which is the most surprising thing here. No metallic notes, no DMS.....
Rather simple brown sugar-like maltiness with plentiful plums, prunes, vanilla and clove. Clove phenols help dry out the candy-sweet malts and while it still ends on the sweet side, its not offensively so. Some banana esters are noted with warming, as well as a heavier pepper phenol profile, but the alcohol remains in check throughout and I never find any flaws. Still a bit too sweet/simple, but fine.

341ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Clear amber body, medium to small head with ok retention. Sweet malty aroma: lots of caramel malt, anise, raisins. Taste similar to the nose: lots of caramel malt, anise, herbs, some woodsy notes, raisins. Very nice.

Pour is caramel with a whisp of a cap thats gone in a flash. Nose is curmel, banana bread, honey, raisins and spice. Solid interpretation of the style, and like the blonde, a passable, though inferior, copycat of the original.

I was curious to try this one having put my hands on the Blonde dAchouffe recently. This one has a bit more ABV (8.5%) which makes it quite a strong ale. It slowly pours a caramel shade robe with a good consistancy and a cloudly body from the lees (and may I add you get a lot of them). All this topped by a foamy lightly tanned head that wont stay long and shifts to the edges of your glass. The nose is very aromatic with hints of fruits like apples and pears, spices (coriander?) and strong hops. On the tongue youre first hit by the strong vapory punch of the alcohol content. Then comes a fruity-like sweetness paired with a slight sharpness. The hops then come along to sort of balance (big word here) out all the flavours and introduce the very dry finish of this spicy brown ale. Overall I found it okay but I think the lack of balance I first spotted came from the fact I had it a tiny bit above 8 degrees. Youll want to have this one between 10 and 12 degrees minimum to let the lees do their job right. Goes very well with soft cheeses and spicy deli.

Bottle from Rapido. Purrs a dark copper brown, off white head, flecks of lacing scattered around the glass. Nose is A typically Belgian, with a touch of soap. Tastes spicy, peppery, a little malt and bitterness. Nice, but not the OG.
