This has surprisingly low scores. Oh well, I thought it was fantastic. I am not very familiar with the style so perhaps this is where it is getting the bum rap. A hazelnut-amber ammunition that smells of raisins, caramel, wood, booze and cherries. A wonderful taste of fruitcake, honey, bread and cherries that finishes dry and leaves a lingering, lovely relish.

33 cl bottle. pours a clear amber with a nice lasting white head. Aroma of caramel and walnuts. Taste is slightly sweet. Overall nice beer.

Clear copper color with moderate activity. Light creamy beige 3 finger head, lasting 5-10 minutes, with faint legs. Flavors of dark berries, apples, plums, raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, toffee, molasses, and herbal spices. Slick medium body with extra prickly carbonation. Strong and a very long finish, ending with a dry vinous tongue coating burnt fruity feel, with a little earthiness, highly sugary and syrupy, and sharp yeasty bitter spices. Overall average quality craft. The flavors are vague, not really that good, and overwhelmed by an overly spicy feel. Lacking some complexity, and the carbonation is way too excessive. Warming while the alcohol is well hidden. Could be used as an appetizer, although I would choose a higher quality one.

Bottle from a mix 6 pack in Montreal. This doppelbock poured a nice brown and was a malty sweet beer. The mouthfeel is on the thick slightly syrupy side but not too unusual for a bock. It remained sweet without becoming cloying which is a fine line to walk. Nice.

My first doppelbock and it was great. Poured a rusty amber with a fast disappearing head. Aroma was of fruit, floral, raisins, and plums. The taste had so much going with sweet fruits, caramel, candy, bubblegum, and honey. It had smooth velvety mouth feel with low carbonation. This beer hides its alcohol well, but you won’t be able to hide your buzz after you have a couple.
