Bottle, #449. Light brown pour with small head. Medium roasted malt aroma. Kind of nutty malt flavor. Decent, but not impressive. ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JAN 21, 2009
16 oz. - $4.75 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Clear, brown body with a small, though sustained, white head. Very coating lacing.
Smell: Fairly restrained maltiness smelling only of some vague, nutty brown malts.
Taste: Dry, dark caramel and shelled nuts make up the malts with only a minor sweetness. Small, small hint of scorched grains. Slight, lightly earthy hop bitterness. Dry, crisp, short finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Just a tad watery.
Drinkability: Sure, it’s very drinkable, but I certainly would appreciate a heft to both its body and overall malt character. nuplastikk (6289) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 21, 2009

Draft at a wedding reception. Light brown color, nice nutty aroma. Light chocolate and coffee taste. Nicely balanced. nearbeer (5424) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 11, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 12 oz. Unclouded chestnut. Large sticky head hangs around and leaves cobwebs of lace on the pint. Aromas of berries, cream and cocoa. Tastes of tart berries dipped in dry cocoa, with light coffee and char on the finish. Near-medium body is tingly, a little too fizzy and well-dried with roasted malt on the finish. I think it was a tad bit infected, but very interesting anyway. dmtroyer (431) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 9, 2008
12oz. Pours a light clear brown with a fluffy off-white head. Nose isn’t much to speak of, mostly bread malts. Body is an interesting combination of bitter chocolate and more bread malts. Touted as a "newcastle on steroids", I don’t quite see it as that but it could be a session brown ale for some people. Aurelius (5335) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 2, 2008
Sweaty, hoppy aroma and clear brown. Nice balance, good hopping, roast. Nuts and coffee in the finish.
