Very cloudy copper coloured body with an orange glow and a thinnish (one centimetre) tan head. Aroma of strong hops, alcohol, caramel, toffee, pit fruits and a bit of peat - smells like a barley wine with a bit of an Imperial IPA scent to it. Light-bodied, if thats possible! Mild malty flavour with not much behind the initial taste showing some alcohol, a bit of pit fruits and not much else really - insane for such a strong smelling beer! Aftertaste shows a little bit of hops and a tiny bit of pit fruits and almost nothing else! Overall, a pretty interesting beer - I was expecting much more from the taste, but this one is very weak in the flavour - the look and smell are nice, but there is nothing at all to this beer! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 11-July-2009, sampled on 15-July-2009 at home in Washington.

Skyview (5834) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Sampled during Dark Lord Day 09 via 12-oz bottle at table 3. Pours a semi-hazy copper amber colored brew with a thin off white head that quickly dissipates to a film top. Aroma of caramel and golden grain malt, some citrus zest, light tropical fruit and some orange. Taste is medium bodied, some extra carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some alcohol presence, tropical fruit and some citrus zest. Finish is semi-dry, slightly metallic from the higher alcohol with a mild bitterness that slowly disappears.

$1.80 for a single bottle at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Amer with a small head. Sweet malts and breadiness in the nose. Bland blend of hops and malts and finishes sweet. Hides the alcohol pretty well.

Bottle. Bronze pour with a short faded white head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, spicy hops, and brown sugar. Some fruit as well. Taste is spicy hops, grass, bread notes, toasted malt, caramel, and dark fruit. Body is chewy and rich with a fizzy carbonation. Ends with more spicy hops, citrus notes, caramel, light toffee, and toasted malt. Tasty!

Brewed in the USA..... Courtesy of AFI96, thanks Waylo !! Pours orange in color with a small off white head and some nice lacing. Aroma of malts, fruit and caramel. Taste of mild spices, malts and hops. Mouthfeel had a slightly dry metallic flavor to it and finishes with some bitter hops.

After 3 duds in the variety pack I was hoping this one would save me from the mediocrity that is RJ Rockers. Poured amber with a slight haze, the head was a mere collection of bubbles. the smell and taste were the same: honey, toffee, and faint citrus. Slightly syrupy body and a lasting bitter finish. Easily the best from the pack though that isnt saying much. It was almost as if they were trying to brew an Arrogant Bastard Lite.

sample on 6/14/09. pours a dark golden with white head. a basic strong golden ale. feels like a suped up Pale Ale. med body with avg carbonation. some bitterness, some malts... but overall falls short of everything. at 8.5%, I would not want to waste an evening on this.

12 oz bottle: Murky amber pour with a whimpy tan head. The nose is mostly unassuming, offering little in the way of either hops or malt. Strange for such a big beer. As it comes to room temp - some hops come out, but very faint. Very strange indeed. The body is a medium build with a nice bitterness to balance the modest caramel sweetness. Nothing about this says 8.5% and maybe that is why they call it Bell Ringer. This drinks almost like a session APA.
