Bottle/22oz - Pours a very dark and pretty opaque black/brown in color. Little head (light tan) and low carbonation. Aroma is medium of dark roasted malts and surprisingly light on the hops... some pine resin present though. Flavor is quite a bit more hoppy with lots of pine and fairly bitter too... the roasted malts definitely take a back seat to the hops in the flavor profile. Finish is quite lingering and also quite bitter. I really like the hops and bitterness, but the beer is not well balanced... at all... zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 1, 2011
bottle at Max & Jess’s - Dark brown and hazy pour with thin beige head. Aroma is a touch of butter, smokey, chocolate, touch of tobacco and huge butter and finish of astringency & charcoal. Tasty dryness. burg326 (5607) - Florida, USA - SEP 3, 2011
22 ounce bottle shared by markwise, that poured a light black/brown color. Aromas of some smoke, chocolate malt, grass, and hops. Flavors follow the aroma with some sweet malt. theisti (4205) - Kansas, USA - NOV 3, 2011
22 oz capped and waxed bottle courtesy of Suttree. Pour is a hazed dark brown chestnut with a well formed one inch khaki head. Aroma is pine hops, sweet citrus hops and a roasted maltiness. There is also a cocoa milk chocolate present. Unique nose, particularly with the sweet citrus. Taste is pine and cocoa nibs right away, followed by some orange fruit and orange peel, finishing dry with more pine - finish has gin qualities. After taste has a bit of a dry dark chocolate to it. The flavors are clean, though not really all that integrated. I am not sure the flavors combinations are working for my tastes. Palate is medium bodied, nice crisp carbonation and dry finish. The alcohol is only evident in the dry after taste. Interesting take on the style, thanks Phil. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 13, 2012
Bomber. Poured deep brown with a tall, sticky, well-retained tan head. The aroma picked up coffee and roasty cocoa topped by green, earthy hops.. a bot strong and raw on the back of the nose. The flavor found very tasty dry-roasted baker’s chocolate and licorice at the core, with fresh earth and light resiny pine bitterness around.. some peppery alcohol too.. finished with nice balance between roasty, bitter, and boozy. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. just a few too many sticky sugars at times, but otherwise a good feel.

Bottle poured into glass. Shared with my buds Mike and Phil. Black color with very little head. Slight hoppy aroma, not a ton, with a mix of chocolate. Nothing super special but worth a shot if you can get it. Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 16, 2012
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Elwood. Pours a clear dark, reddish brown with a rich, beige head. Roasty nose, spicy, licoricey, a little citrus character. Bitter finish. Not the most sophisticated, but quite ok. 160612 alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Bottle; poured a dark brown with a big, frothy and persistent light brown head. Aroma of earth, caramel, sweetness, fruit, and flowers. Flavor was more roasted than earthy. NOt sure I am feeling this one that much, because it came off a bit heart. Very roasty and the earthy hops was not always the most pleasant. Ok. nimbleprop (8750) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 3, 2014
