3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler. Dark w/ sweet malty nose. Lite mouthfeel for a dunkelweizen. Easy to drink thou. Not b.a.d.
12oz. Pours cloudy chocolate brown with a one finger beige head. The nose is light iced tea, caramel, faint roasted nuts. The taste is caramel, dark fruits, chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. 3.2 Lubiere (14151) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 19, 2014
A deep dark dunkel with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice smooth fruity malt with dark fruits, chocolate, surprising, close to a porter. In mouth, a smooth fruity malt with dark fruits, light peated notes, chocolate, porter-like. Hopswagger (344) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 12, 2014
P: Murky super dark cola appearance with thin cappuccino head.
S: Rich caramel and toffee malt, roasted grain, sweet molasses, prunes, cocoa powder and stale coffee. Clove, cinnamon, and faint licorice. Cherry cola and bourbon fumes with big inhales.
T/M: Coffee, amaretto sweetness, bittersweet cocoa and loads of roasted grain. Really earthy and less fruity than I expected. Timid fruit sweetness in the after bite. No alcohol presence. Light-medium grainy body with an aggressively effervescent sting. Finish is dry and sweet.
O: This at first was drinking like a porter until the subtle sweet fruit came in on the tale end. A decent beer but not a huge success. I would drink this again but won’t seek it out. WVBrU (89) - - JUL 18, 2013
Bought at a discount, may be old. Poured pitch black with almost no head. Because of this the smell was a little lacking but I made out a coffee aroma. Taste was malty AND bitter/burnt. Thinner feel than expected but not bad. chinchill (5318) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 10, 2013
Undated 12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours dark reddish-brown, nearly black, with a small tan head. Retention isn’t very good but has decent lacing. A thin layer of sediment coats the bottom of the bottle, with a bit added in the pour.
Aroma: Sweet malts with less dark roasted malt than expected given the appearance. Some alcohol esters, coffee and dark fruit as well.
Taste is quite roasty up front with coffee and chocolate flavors. Some dark fruit mid-taste. Mild bitterness and only a hint of smoke.
Mouthfeel: fairly smooth. Medium-full body. Slightly powdery finish.
Overall: distinct and moderately flavorful but mild.

This beer pours with a muddy, near-opaque dark cola brown, with almost no head at all. The aroma is dark and fruity, with a light cherry-like sweetness and a little brown sugar overlaid on a bed of cereal grains. The flavor is likewise fruity and sweet against a nutty, dry graininess. There is also a bit of astringency and some mild but noticeable alcohol burn that distract from the initial flavor profile. It has a nice light/medium body, but the texture is a bit too drying. In the end, this beer has an interesting flavor profile, but a few negative characteristics drag down the overall impression. ben4321 (6739) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 6, 2012

Aroma: The nose is sweet, with notes of caramel, chocolate, wheat, toffee, fruit, and cookie dough
Appearance: It pours a dark-brown black color with a fizzy, lasting, medium brown head
Flavor: Tastes moderate-plus sweet, with some later spicy/peppery flavors, and a slightly acidic finish
Palate: It is extremely over-carbonated (to the point of being hard to drink), with a dry, acidic finish
This was some weird stuff, I got a little more complexity from the nose then the flavor, and I also felt that the components of the nose were more interesting (and worked better as a whole) then what came across in the flavor. Either way, the beer itself was decent, but the body killed it for me. It borders on undrinkable, which is a shame, because the rest of the beer was significantly better. I ended up here, but the score could have a gone a few different ways for sure.
Served from tap into an RJ Rockers shaker. Poured a murky deep brown with a minimal off-white head. Maintained decent lacing throughout. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt and grains. The flavor was of malt, rye, and bananas. It had a medium feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was not a bad brew at all. However it was not really what I was expecting from this brew. This is not necessarily a bad thing by the way. Flavors were very nice and balanced, I just wish the aroma would have been a little more pronounced as I had to search high and low to find it. Can’t wait to find a bottle of this to compare. Off tap in 20 oz mug. Malty palette with a roasty profile. The roast lingers for a while becoming a bit chocolate. Decent if not spectacular. pineypower (3346) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Picked up as a trade extra....thanks to whoever it was. Pours out a lightly cloudy brown color with not much of a head. Aroma is of light fruity notes, some sweetness, caramel, and wet cardboard. Taste is light fruits, some raisin, odd vegetable notes, some caramel, wet cardboard...lacks body.
