Good solid stout. Very easy drinker for 9%. Mayber a tad on the sweet side. Maybe could stand to have roastier flavors and fuller palate but that’s being very picky. Was lucky to try this one. Wish I had another can. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2010
Can, discovered in Cameron Highlands. Pours with an audibly fizzy head that dissipates relatively rapidly. Is pitch black. Aroma has some nice charcoal. The sugars are surprisingly undeveloped. Alcohol is apparent if I look for it, but not overtly hot. Has a mild cocoa aroma. Thin fizzy palate for such a high ABV brew. Actually comes across as refreshing, although the prickliness seems out of place. It’s too hot and thin to be sophisticated. Quite bland in the flavor department. However, can’t knock it either, it’s strong, mild, a bit charred, and its most pronounced fault is the fizziness. Oakes (17680) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 22, 2010
Chestnut brown. Very little in the way of head. Smells thin, caramelly. The body has some heft, however. There is light roast, some bland sugar...not much else really. Just enough stout character for this to be considered a stout, and nothing more.
