UPDATED: FEB 28, 2018 Bottle. Dark brown with shades of black. Lovely head with some lacing. Aroma of dark (dried) fruits and malts Taste is the same plus toffee, caramel and hints of liquorice. Finish showcases British hops. Strong carbonation. Balanced and nice. I clearly remember being absolutely overwhelmed by this one as a young lad, now it's just decent.

Benters (175) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 20, 2018
Pours a clear dark brown with red highlights and average carbonation. Rich aromas of dark berry fruits, liquorice, molasses, roasted malts and some wood. Taste is rich and well balanced, with almost burnt roasted malt flavours working with the hops to balance out the malt sweetness which has notes of toffee, molasses and berry fruits. Really rich and full bodied beer, has a slightly bitter finish. Fantastic beer.

Clear purple brown beer, big creamy yellowish irregular head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, chocolate, caramel, bit oxidized, some overripe banana. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, malty, soft roast, some cocoa powder, bit spicy, oxidized, touch. Aftertaste: bit metallic, sourish touch, dried fruits, some caramel, bitter hops, pretty dry finish, metallic touch.

From a bottle, poured a lovely deep brown colour with a healthy head. A sweet malty aroma gives way to a powerful taste that hits you straight away and is perfectly carbonated. Quite a complex sweet and fruity taste with a little bit of bitter in the aftertaste. It's definitely the stand out beer of the Robinsons brewery and worth seeking out.
