Clear purple brown beer, big creamy yellowish irregular head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, chocolate, caramel, bit oxidized, some overripe banana. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, malty, soft roast, some cocoa powder, bit spicy, oxidized, touch. Aftertaste: bit metallic, sourish touch, dried fruits, some caramel, bitter hops, pretty dry finish, metallic touch.

From a bottle, poured a lovely deep brown colour with a healthy head. A sweet malty aroma gives way to a powerful taste that hits you straight away and is perfectly carbonated. Quite a complex sweet and fruity taste with a little bit of bitter in the aftertaste. It's definitely the stand out beer of the Robinsons brewery and worth seeking out.

Dark brown colour with thin tanned head, aroma is dark chocolate, caramel, sour apple, taste is soury apple at first, caramel, chocolate swoops in, great aftertaste.

Bottle at home. Dark brown, almost black, with compact off white head. Sweet liquorish aroma. Taste is also boozy and sweet, with caramel and plums notes. Moderately bitter final.

0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Preller' (Breckerfeld), bottled in October 2016. Clear, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and a bit vinous aroma of raisins, prunes, caramel and some chocolate. Quite sweet, moderately bitter, malty, slightly fruity, a little roasty and a bit vinous taste of caramel, raisins, prunes, some chocolate and a touch of oak, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly roasty and a little tart finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good one!

Very dark, medium sized head. Rich smell, medium carbonation, smooth and oily. Caramel, and toffee. Rich and complex. Hidden strong alcohol. Old England glory!

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2017 Deceptively strong stout (1001 Beers has it classed as barley wine) that I got given as a moving in present back in 2010. I remember giving a bottle of this to a work colleague after a night out and they passed out on my sofa after drinking half of it. 3/5 is a historical rating taken from old notes.

unclemike (3196) - Junction City Kansas, Kansas, USA - DEC 10, 2017
Dark burgundy red, small biege head. Cherries, black chocolate with a light acidity in aroma. Heavy fruity aroma of cherries and sour raspberries. Strong notes of bitter, dark chocolate. Light oaky character in the finish. Surprisingly light bodied
