Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

Bottle. Brown beer, residual head. Aroma of chocolate. Taste is milky chocolate and a little bit of roasted malts. A nice beer with a definite chocolate taste.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2017 It pours a reddish brown, great head of foam, good lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, vanilla, toffee, pretty sweet smell overall. Taste follows nose with plenty of dark and milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla, but not as fresh/vibrant as I suspect it could be. Mouthfeel is just fine. okay.

I thought I was going to like this more than I did. The cocoa isn't overpowering and it isn't that sweet, but the flavor also just isn't that good.

Biała czekolada, kakao, suszone owoce, karmel, toffi. Średnio treściwe, niespecjalnie słodkie, ciut taniczne, ściągające na finiszu. Średnie do niskiego wysycenie, średnia, ziołowa goryczka.

Pours a dark amber with a medium head. Aroma is of malts, caramel and chocolate. Taste is malts, chocolate. Slighty sweet and sour. Slightly sour finish

Interesting scent of a dusty Red Velvet cake sprinkled with a pinch of unsweetened baking cocoa. Beautiful ruby hues with a foamy but short-lived beige head. The chocolate jumps out at you right away but is quickly followed by the layers of malts fading slowly to a mild bitter finish, has a slight warming follow. Quite nice.

Bottle on the P&O Oceans near Greece. Don’t usually go for novelty beers bit this one is worth a try. Pours dark brown with a good head which lasts. Aroma is strongly chocolate and hazelnut with some vanilla. The taste is like a decent hoppy IPA with the chocolate layered on top rather than competing with the hops. Good malty backbone to carry the lot. Hop bitterness is prominent and lingering. Well balanced. Quite an enjoyable after dinner ale. Good one for the style.
