UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 Tasted 20/03/2006. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s, Wellington. Dark crystal toffee notes dominate the nose, with vanilla sweetness, subtle gloding hops and deep alcohol notes lurking. Lovely dark red colour with diminishing tan head. I’ve seen pictures of this beer, darker and with a creamy white head, that have a lot more appeal (doctored?). Nice toffee and fruit notes in the the mouth, a little peppery through the middle. Medium weight and mild carbonation. Very mild bitterness. Superb, and very smooth, alcohol warmth lingers. Tastes like a 4+ type of beer that’s just been comercialised to a point that’s lost it’s edge.

12oz bottle. Brown with small white head. Syrupy nose with alcohol. Lots of raisin. Sweet. Thick and sticky. Tastes almost like a Belgium quad. Not what i expected. Good.

LoZioSpino (36) - Roma, ITALY - JUN 5, 2017
