the best beer from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full body.. indeed, strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities. nhorween (645) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2008
Bottle. Dark, caramel colored pour with a fine, cream colored head. Complex aroma - caramel and toffee malt, plums, prunes, some earthiness. Super round maltiness in the flavor - alcohol in the back of the throat. Slight lingering bitter finish that’s fairly dry, almost chalky. Big bubbles. Nice quad. (3/17/08) Bottle at Café Scharrebier in Amsterdam. Best before 1/19/2020. Dark brown with a quickly-diminishing small beige head. Aroma of malt, a lot of dark fruits, some yeast and a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, dark fruits and hints of roastiness and alcohol. Medium body and strong carbonation. Great stuff. 7/4/8/4/16=3.9
Bottle. Poured a murky, hazy brown color with an off-white head that faded to a layer. Aroma of light caramel, plum, raisin, and fig. Flavor consists of a smooth, sweet maltiness with a light tart hint, plum, raisin, and even a hint of light citrus with more raisin on the finish. Smooth with decent bite, especially on the finish. Very good beer. hillfiiiiire (323) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 29, 2008
Pours dark brown with a bubbly, creamy tan head. The aroma is prominently raisin with lots of dark fruits. Flavor is vinous with a touch of roasted malts. Rather sweet with a sharp finish and left a pleasantly sweet taste. Bubbly mouthfeel. Good carbonation. Very tasty beer. TaxiDriver (1775) - Stadland, GERMANY - MAR 29, 2008
Bottle. Number 300. Fruity, quite malty, light hoppy, a little bit of port. Average sized white creamy head, long lasting, black body. Light sweet start, then it gets a little bit more bitter, long duration. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. The finish is light alcoholic. Very nice one! gam (3909) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAR 28, 2008
Good retention,colour plum like,or between brown and plum.Aroma,raisins,plums,port wine notes,sultanas.Flavour plum,clove,raisin, alcohol taste is obvious but okay,there is a cinnamon taste,a citrus like bitter,plus fig.Finish mellow,bitter fruit/alcohol,slightly sour,a little overrated,looking forward to number 8.
