2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Drank out of a 6 or so year old bottle. Very thick and caramelly. Very hard for me to drink and I love dark and heavy beer. This borders on tasting like a whiskey.
In the aroma you scent a caramel, fuity and wood. Color is a strong cooper/light brown. Almost doesn't have foam. Has a very strong sweet flavour at the beggining with a caramel and fuity touch. As the time passes you get less sweet and more sour, but not very much. As you finish the drink you get a very strong wood flavour that stays for a long time. Has a rich, medium body and a creamy texture. The carbonation is very soft. Jingis (127) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - SEP 16, 2017

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2017 Brutálisan jó sör! Illatában és ízében karamell fedezhető fel! Sötétbarna színű szüretlen sör! Karakteres, erős alkoholtartalmú! Imádom ! Laharem (14) - POLAND - SEP 11, 2017
Ciemnobrązowa barwa, całkiem spore nasycenie, pojawia się obfita, ale nietrwała piana. W aromacie karmel, ciemne owoce, szlachetny alkohol. W smaku mocno alkoholowe, czuć ciemne owoce i karmel, minimalna goryczka. Karstenborg (1096) - Hasselager, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2017

0,33 l bottle. A darkest red brown in the glass. One finger pale beige head. Malty fruity smell. Taste ist malty, sweet, warming alcoholic. Some wood, fruity. Mid alcoholic sharpness in the late aftertaste. Nice. craftyrocker (53) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 6, 2017
1.5 year old (BB March 2021) bottle with sediment into an oversized wine glass. $9 in Australia. My first Rochefort 10, second Trappist quad, third dark Belgian, and 100th unique beer!
Appearance: Dark brown body. Thick beige head which slowly drops to a film, and eventually a fine bubbly ring. Laces well.
Aroma: Strong dark fruits (raisins, prunes, plums), port wine, caramel.
Taste: Sweet malty esters, dark fruit, warming booziness, caramel, molasses, slightly toasted malt, a little peppery spice. Wonderful booziness quickly creeps up and takes the beer to a new level. Low bitterness, smooth aftertaste. Far aftertaste is dusty malt and spice.
Palate: Fine carbonation but too much of it. I would prefer less carbonation and a slicker body.
Overall: Divine. Savouring this for two hours was time well spent. It meet its lofty expectations. I have five more bottles and plan to open one each year. My rating brought it back from #12 to #11 on RB top 50, interesting. 10/5/10/4/19. Blastomorpha (104) - - SEP 2, 2017
Pour dark brown with an dark ivory head. Not the best aroma among the trappists or quads I tried (probably just an unlucky bottle), but the taste is so good and well balanced. Alcohol is totally controlled too. All the praises are well deserved. Addiezg (100) - - SEP 1, 2017
W aromacie fenolowo, morele, troche alkoholowo. Dość wysoko nasycone, delikatnie alkoholowe. Troche się zawiodłem... swillguzzler99 (195) - Peoria, Arizona, USA - AUG 30, 2017
330 ml bottle. Pours deep chestnut with lazy carbonation and minimal head. Fruity sweet nose. Sweet soda fizz that rapidly diminishes. Plums raisins. A tad syrupy but damned good.
