This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

0.3 bottle. Pours dark red hazy color with huge, mostly lasting off-white head. Aroma of yeast, fruits, flowers. Flavor is medium to high sweet, light bitter, light sour. Finish is medium long, spicy, sour. Sparkling carbonation, medium to full body.

Pours very hazy dark red to brown with a short-lasting thin off-white head. Smells yeasty and - I have to admit - a bit off. The aroma contains malts, caramel, bread, yeast and some fruits. It tastes light sour, medium sweet and light bitter, with lingering soft tartness. Quite thin texture, soft carbonation. Not as intense and complex as the big brothers.

Rojiza con tonos marrones. Buena espuma de burbuja fina y persistente. Fruta madura tipo ciruelas y azcar moreno en nariz, algo vinosa. Le falta algo cuerpo para compensar el alcohol. En boca dulce (uvas pasas) y alcohlica. BB 2020/01/14

Pours a cloudy amber brown color with a 2 fingers-thick frothy head that disappears quickly. Aroma is oak, dark fruits, candy sugar, yeast esters and spices. Taste partly follows the nose - caramelized sugar, spices, but also hops and a semi-discrete presence of alcohol. Lively carbonation, maybe a bit too much for my palate, dry finish.

33 cl bottle @ home. Clear amber brown beer with medium white head. Sweet aroma of dark fruits and caramel. Taste is dominated by the caramel, with some light roasted notes.

Aroma - could easily be confused for Jameson Whiskey. The nose is oaky, dark fruit, caramelized sugar. Appearance - body is a clean burnt umber, with good nucleation. The head is off-white and around 1/3". Settles into a healthy slice of foam. Taste - has an (Jameson oaken whiskey barrel woodiness) with some caramelized sugar, herbal notes, some tea, and dark fruit. Palate - body is between light and medium, carbonation is average, the finish is dry and boozy.

Nice spicy palate. Light for a trappist. Ripe fruits. They speak of sand. Balanced.

33cl bottle at home. Pours a cloudy amber brown colour with an off white head that recedes rapidly to a small layer. Aroma of hops, alcohol, caramel, toffee, spices. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter with a soft bitter finish. Notes of chocolate, spices, dried fruits, caramel, malts, slight alcohol. Texture is fizzy, medium bodied with high carbonation.

Bottle 330ml. Very hazy dark brown with a white head. Yeast sediment, plenty of it... Caramel and toffee in the aroma. Taste adds chocolate and coconut(?) like Bounty candy... Im not so fond of the bubbly and frothy palate, but it is typically Belgian, so maybe unfair to give it a 2.
