COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

33 cl bottle bought from supermarket. Pours dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, roasted malt, dried fruits, some yeast. Taste is light sweet, malty, caramel, light dried fruits, yeast. Medium body, average carbonation, good light sweet aftertaste. Overall a very good Belgian beer.

Fles. Weer eens gedronken; in mijn herinnering was het (nog) beter. Smaakte nu iets te veel naar alcohol, maar goede trappist blijft overeind. Geen overmatig sterke smaak, maar veel meer dan aangenaam.

Aromat ciemnych owoców i drożdzy. W smaku dobrze zachowany balans między słodyczą, a goryczką. mocno wysycone. alkohol średnio ukryty

pleispleis (167) - Maccagno, ITALY - SEP 30, 2017

Bottle 0.33l. Lightly cloudy, pale amber colored. AROMA- apple, pear, candies, pleasant alcohol. FLAVOR- slightly sweet, light alcohol presence, pear, berries, rowanberries, a bit spicy, candies, caramel. Fuller bodied.
Average one.

Mishnok (399) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2017
Quite a sour aroma. Pours darker than I was expecting, a rich brown with a good head at first. Quite a complex palate, fruity, plums, raisins, obvious high alcohol. Grows on you after a while. Nice flavours

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2017 Underwhelmed with this. Dark amber red. Typical tastes of a Belgium double without being particularly interesting. Was surprised by how weak and watery I found it. Much prefer the 8 but do need to try this again.,a
