COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, the oldest of the three Rochefort Trappist beers, has the reddish colour of autumn leaves, a soft body and an earthy, herbal palate (a hint of Darjeeling tea), which develops into a deep fruitiness.

Bottle. Amber, honey color (not so clean). Grassy and spicy aroma. Taste was quite sweet at the beginning, then more and more bitter. Medium bitter finish. Good.

Pours murky brown with tall off-white / light brown head. Aroma of nuts, sugar, herbs, bread and dried fruit. Taste is sweet, spicy, slightly herbal, with a lightly roasty and nutty finish. Light to medium bodied and smooth with soft to average carbonation.

Bursztynowe, zamglone z gęstą pianą. Piana dosyć szybko się redukuje, nie zdobi szkła. W aromacie ciemne i czerwone owoce. Trochę przypraw. Jest też karmelowa słodycz. W smaku podobnie jak w aromacie. Przyjemny karmelowy finisz. Przyjemnie się pije.

Bottle. Taste and aroma og brown sugar, plum, malt and some yeast. Some caramel in the taste. A good belgian beer.

cloudy brown. I expected more head retention actually. smells belgian yeasts and slighlty roasted malt. tastes caramel, wood, raisin and yeasts give it some leather taste too. medium bodied and highly carbonated for an dubbel. dry finish.

Pours dark amber with visible carbonation and a quite dense white head which shows good retention and nice lacing. Rich and vivd aroma with caramel and brown sugar sweetness, fruitiness, slight spiciness and a refreshing herbal/balsamic note. Taste follows the aroma with medium to high caramelish and sugarish sweetness, fruity esters, slight spiciness/pricklyness and just enough bittering balance in a balsamic/herbal finish. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation, quite creamy. An highly drinkable and enjoyable strong ale that is still quite complex. Good

0,33 l Flasche. Braunes, trübes Bier, cremeweißer, stabiler, grobporiger Schaum, kaum Gardine. Riecht nach Rosine, fast wie ein Portwein. Schmeckt leicht nach Kirsche, sehr süß. Zu viel Kohlensäure.
