4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I actually enjoyed this more than the Rochefort 10, mainly because of the sweetness that I thought was lacking in this fellow’s older brother. Very very similar aroma and flavor -- bready biscuit malt behind a very floral array of spices and yeast esters. Same brown, sedimented pour under a foamy white head. Plenty of dried fruits.
pite zaraz po Rochefort 10, ale roznice wyczuwalne. Przede wszystkim mniej maslanych i rodzynkowych klimatow, alkohol nizszy i zdecydowanie mniej wyczuwalny.. rzeczywiscie blizej im do kuzynow niz braci :) Bill Becker (1367) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 17, 2017

Poured from 33cl bottle(best by 07/08) a cloudy dark brown with a large head of foam that dissipated slowly leaving a fine layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is fruity and yeasty with strong notes of plum and fig.
The taste has sweet malt up front and fruity notes, mostly plum, midway through and right through the finish. There's also some molasses tones that I noted in the Rochefort 10 but here, in comparison, they are much subdued. And.... the abv doesn't come in to play at all. This is one very tasty BSDA!
Bottom line: A very tasty brew of its style that I can thoroughly recommend!

Note à moi même : n'achète plus cette bière!
C'est pas mon style, trop lourd, trop alcoolisée. En depis de tous les commentaires qui disent que cette bière est la meilleure, moi je n'y arrive pas. cglans (304) - - OCT 7, 2017
33cl bottle. hazy brown color. big light beige head that lingers on. malt, raisins, caramel, dried fruits, yeast, brown sugar. low to medium bitterness with medium carbonation. ciocanelu (2855) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - OCT 6, 2017
Murky brown color with beige head. Aroma has caramel, brown sugar, some toffee and dark fruits. Taste has toasted malts, some nuts, honey, brown sugar, earthy bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. A bit boozy for my taste but overall it's a well made Belgian ale.

A wonderful beer. Subtle and complex. Character changes in improves as it warms. I need to rate it again And give it the attention it deserves. Also rate it side-by-side with the 10

Bottle. Clear red, thick, white head disappearing quickly but leaving a thin layer and a little lacing. Aroma bready, malty, hints of fruity, red berries, slighty peppery, hints of tea (?) Taste thick, smooth, slightly sweet, a little mealy, Carbonation medium to high, tingling. Bitterness low. Aftertaste fruity, malty, berrries, hints of tobacco, alcohol not perceivable. I expected more, nevertheless a plesant brew. Jingis (216) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - SEP 16, 2017
Kvalitne klastorne pivko s prijemnou vonou. Peknou polotmavou farbou. A vynikajucou chutou.
