COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The combination of four different malts, along with a low hop level creates a deep dark beer featuring rich, sweet roasted flavors. The addition of lactose (milk sugar) adds complexity, body, and a residual sweetness lending a smooth creamy texture to this full-flavored brew. Once a Seasonal offering in the pub, now prominently featured due to popular demand.

Tap. Dark brown with almost no light getting through. Tan head lingered with nice lacing. Thick, malty, sweet aroma with not much else. Tasted very sweet and malty, lingering vanilla extract taste. A bit of tartness to it. Very nice creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty light for a stout. The best beer I’ve had at the mills

16 oz can to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a fairly opaque dark cola with beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt and chocolate with a sweet backbone. Tastes like it smells, only better and with more chocolate. Nice and smooth on the palate. Enjoyable.

16 oz can. Pours a very dark brown with a medium foamy head that fades normally and leaves good lacing. Great appearance. Lactose sweet aroma of chocolate milk, coffee, and some light caramel. Taste is solid. Sweet iced mocha coffee, light bitterness in the finish. A little caramel comes through too. Thin to medium body that’s smooth and a little creamy. Overall, pretty nice. A little sweet but I’d drink this again.

Taster on tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Dark brown color. Slightly red. Thin khaki head, leaves good lace. Medium-plus body. Crisp, lighter carbonation. Good darker chocolate, light oat, some lactose milk sugar, bit of roast. Nice balance in the malt profile. Moderate bitter, light sweet. Good milk stout, more my style. Satisfying amount of bitter. Good balance to it.

16 ounce can into pint glass, no canning date. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger foamy tan head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that eventually disappears. Minimal lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toast, toffee, light coffee, cream, herbal, light floral, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good dark/roasted malt balance; and decent strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, toffee, cream, herbal, light floral and roasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, toffee, cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a bit. Good balance of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, and lactose flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid milk stout. Good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, and lactose flavors; and very smooth to drink. An enjoyable offering.

This beer pours from the can a dark smooth black. Almost looks thin. A foamy vanilla mocha colored head tops it off. A sugary toasted almond aroma. Flavors really revolve around the sugary sweetness from the milky vanilla ice cream notes mixed in with chocolate syrup. Very light overall. With its lack in overall flavors it makes up in other points. The milk chocolate flavors really leave a nice chewy layer on the mouth feel. Also surprisingly enough it feels somewhat thick. Which really pulls anything together that this had going for it. In the end a light stout that you can really drink quick... if that’s what you’re into.

Can. This is a rich thick stout with a sweetish start and a tart burnt coffee/darl chocolate finish.
