cloudy caramel.orange, thin off white head quickly reduces to tiny bubbles, nice lace. nose of citrus, pine, underarms catbox (lots of hops apparent here). flavor has creamy caramel notes, offset nicely by piney hops. medium bodied, great bitter finish. a nice example of the style. i got a growler of it for LoSBD @ RBC brewpub. On tap at brewpub. Hazy dark orange. Lots of hop bitterness and grapefruit in the nose. Tasty, but I actually preferred the single diamond. cgarvieuk (24499) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 5, 2009
Tap at Brewpub pre DLD 09 ...pinkish orange ... pine fuity hop nose ... big big hop ... pink grapefruit in your face and juicy ... well balanced. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 1, 2009
tap at rockfest 09. multiple pours... pours a hazy golden brown with a fluffy slightly off-white head... nice floral and citrus hop aroma with sweet undertones lying beneath it all... abundance of floral hoppy flavors with a tamed bitterness quotient. very welldone dipa from the folks at rb chicago. need to have this again sometime. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 26, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. The last beer after many beers at the end of DLD. Poured a murky orange with a beige creamy head that slowly receded to a ring. Really fresh and hoppy nose. Tons of juicy grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruit. Leathery hop and fruit flavors of mostly grapefruit and pine with some caramel malt, tangerine, and tropical fruit. Bitter resiny finish.
The malts don’t balance the hop flavors as well as I’d like, but otherwise, an excellent DIPA,

At brewpub. Pours a murky unclear dull orange with a small white froth. Big peachy, tropical fruit, resiny aroma, really nice 8.5. First taste is huge tropical fruits, peach, mango, papaya, then washed out by bitter resiny pine, medium sweetness, tropical fruit aftertaste. Very clean flavors with only a touch of alcohol. Super clean finish, very impressive 8.5. Medium/full body with a medium mouthfeel, super crisp lovely even carbonation, smooth and tingly. Another winner from RB Chicago! drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 22, 2009
on tap at RockFest ’09, many samples of this, poured murky orange with white head. aroma is loaded with orange citrus, grapefruit, and juicy hop notes. flavors are loaded with grapefruit, orange, juicy, and citrusy, lots of bitterness on the back end. awesome IIPA. I wisely had a snifter of this in the brewpub before the 2nd Annual Rockfest began, because I needed to burn my palate clean with an intense dosage of alcohol and hop bitterness. Not really pretty to look at, kind of a cloudy golden brown with a short white head. I know that there was malt in the brew, but the aroma was heavy with grapefruit, lemon zest, tropical fruit, earth, tart tangerines, earth, and a pine needle or three. The flavor began with a splash of sweet caramelly malt but was soon overwhelmed by a surge of hop flavors reflective of the nose and an even more serious amount of bitterness than was anticipated. The finish was dry and hot and just a WEE bit bitter. Eris help me, but I love the unbalanced DIPAs like this! xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - APR 20, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Murly brown with creamy, medium white head. Orange, mango, tropical fruit aroma with pine some caramel but hop forward. Real hop forward flavor as well with tropical fruit, pine, sweeter caramel, as is it warms more spruce and pine come out with a drying finish. Med to full with creamy body. Excelent all around, hops are really forward with not quite enough sweetness to make it a completely balanced beer but I really enjoy it. User29624 (1683) - - APR 17, 2009
I had this beer after the Smoked Porter and I was equally impressed with this beer. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Awesome aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. A little bit of malt sweetness but the hops really dominate. I thought it was oddly a little thin for a Double IPA, but still great flavor. Well done.
