RB. Aroma was pretty good, had a earthy pine flavor. Palate was not very oily, would have liked more. Flavor was fairly balanced; some pine, with a definite orange flavor. A little unique for the style, which was nice. golubj (1377) - San Mateo, California, USA - MAR 12, 2007
Draft. Aroma was nice, flavor was good, but light on the palate for a double IPA. A little more fruit than most also, but that was nice. jimstrassburg (57) - Germantown, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 18, 2006
I love this beer. I sampled it at RB Chicago, then I had a pint, then I brought a growler back to share with some friends. The half-gallon was only $7.95 (with the bottle). A refil would be $6.95. The pour is a hazy orange. The aroma is very nice. A thick fruity scent with grape fruit, orange and lemons. Taste isn’t as great as the scent but still a very nice IPA. If you’re at RB chicago this is a must try. 1FastSTi (3360) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 18, 2006
Thanks Jim for bringing up a growler. The beer pours to a hazy caramel colored body with a thin creamy white head. Decent lacing. The aroma is very citrusy. Grapefruit, lemons, oranges. The flavor is hoppy and decently malty. Oranges and sweet caramel malts. Grapefruit rind on the finish and light grassyness. The palate is medium bodied, lightly oily. Nice.

Sampled from a growler per Jim
a cloudy murky orange color w/ a well laced small white head. Very good aroma even when cold. Lots of sweet grapefruit and some nice light grass hop aromas added to a nice backbone of carmel malt. Palate is nice. Well coated very oily and lightly creamy. Flavor is a balanced nicely bitter grapefruit and light grass w/ a good malt balance. A very good drinking IIPA. beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - FEB 11, 2006
(02.08.06) On tap at Rock Bottom Chicago, Chicago, IL Hazy oranged hued imperial IPA with small white head. Intense fresh hoppy grapefruit aroma. Medium-to-full bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and pronounced hoppy grapefruit flavors. Finishes with hoppy grapefruit flavors and light hop bitterness. Fresh, smooth and well-balanced giant beer with an assertive hop flavor profile. This is a delicious imperial IPA, a very special treat from Rock Bottom Chicago. Thanks to Scott L for tipping me off! On tap at R.B. Chicago. Hazy medium golden pour with a creamy white head... some nice lacing followed it down. Loved the aroma of sticky sweet grapefruit, floral hoppage, and just the right amount of caramel to support it... ’bout the same thing in the flavor.. just not quite as smooth and balanced. Solid bitter mouthfeel with smooth caramel support. I really enjoyed this one. ElBorracho (472) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 6, 2006
On tap at the brewpub. This has to be the cloudiest IIPA that I have ever seen. An orangish/yellow with a good size frothy white head - and no, you cannot see through any part of it. Huge grapefruit hop aroma and taste but too astringent and unbalanced to be a great IIPA. Zeswaft (1774) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 4, 2006
Aroma was hoppy and earthy. Flavor was totally uninspired. Worst double IPA i’ve ever had.
