Pours amber gold with a small creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet candy, very fruity and a touch spicy, plenty of caramel maltiness. Flavor starts sweet and a bit of dark fruit. Picks up a spicy clove like character before a lightly bitter and malty finish, a touch boozy. Medium slightly creamy body. Not bad, smooth and easy drinking. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 11, 2010
Draft, pours hazy amber with white head. Nose of clove, wheat, toffee, and spices. Flavors are very sweet and spicy, peppery phenolic yeast notes with toffee/dark Candi sugar and over ripe pear and melon undertones. Fairly well attenuated, sort of a cross between a weizen and dubbel but it doesn’t totally not work. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2010
Draft at RBC. Pours an attractive and clear red. Nose is slight phenols, aromatic malts and faded hops. Cloves & roses as well as bread. Pretty close to a Dubbel, actually. On taste, the aromatic malts and candi sugar round this one out, bringing a lot of chewy malt and caramel character. A hint of carraway as well. Not too shabby. Part of a sampler at the brewpub. Hazy new-copper amber, condensed white cap. Very spicy estery aroma, low banana-- in a blind sniff test, I would peg this as a hefe all the way! Flavours of wheat, light caramel, and allspice. A little thin despite the ABV, but decent enough, but more like a dunkelweizen.
