Draft at the brewpub. Poured an opaque black color. The head was light brown with an orange-ish tint. Smelled of chocolate, roasted nuts and subdued vanilla. Draft @ RBC. Solid black body, a lacy white head. Nice mellow schwartz malt smell. Taste has nice coffee roast to it, a bit of stout roastiness, too. Draft at RBC. Pours a deep brown black with a sticky off-white head. Nose is a bit burnt and roasty. A touch of herbal hops come through as does some cocoa. Very clean. On taste, more of the roast and a firm bitterness. Crisp and refreshing. Super clean fermentation. I get a bit of a burnt note and some charcoal, likely carafa. Solid for sure.
