On tap for mug club. Clear red color with a thin head. Nose full of wet grains earthy hops and rye spicy malts. Really it’s kind of muddy and overly ryed. The flavors confirm it. Sweet malts mixed in with rye and a bitter earthy finish. Cloying bitter and not that enjoyable. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deeper geek amber colored body with a fin width, frothy, off white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a mod lacing throughout. Aroma is light citruses with some rye spice and florals. A tad bit grainy. Flavor is similar. Some citruses, florals, and a pleasant rye spice. Slight citrus and rye increase towards the end as this finishes dry with a light to moderate bitterness and a pleasant rye spice that leaves a lengthy aftertaste along with a few resins. Light to medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a tasty yet unexciting beer. Not overly astringent but fairly bitter with a noticeable rye that I liked. Draft at rb chi, pours clear light amber with white head. Nose is a bit metallic but there’s some pleasant earthy rye and toasted grain along with a spicy hop presence. Flavor combines spicy hop notes with sweet toasted grains and earthy rye. It’s not bad, somewhat forgettable but I’m not getting the major flaws Nobel got on the last batch. Draft at RBC. Pours a deep copper/amber with sticky head that lasts. Pretty clear. Nose is super grainy and hoppy. There is an odd spicy note from the grain that is a bit out of balance. The hops are pretty nice, notes of resin. On taste, far too astringent. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was oversparged. Full of tannins and the hops are super bitter as well, scraping across the tongue. Could use a little work, the idea is good, just not well put together.
