On tap at the brewpub. Pours an unclear, amber-red colored body with a thin, creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is intense caramels and sherry. A good amount of dark fruits, some toffee, Belgian yeast, oaky bourbon, and some syrupy fruity esters. Flavor is similar. Lots of caramel, oak, vanilla, and bourbon. Some more sherry, syrupy fruits, Belgian yeast, and wine-like at times. Finishes with some sticky sweetness and a dry, moderate bitterness from the oaky vanillas and decent hop backing. Lengthy aftertaste of raisin, vanilla, oak, and caramel. Medium-full body with a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty tasty beer. Lots of vanilla and oak with a good amount of caramel. Dries nicely with just a touch of heat and fairly easy drinking for a bigger beer. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 10, 2010
Draft at Rockfest. Pours deep amber/brown. Nose is cloves/banana. Some light citrus and biscuity malts. Touch of roast. On taste, round body, clean bitterness. Esters and phenols are there but well balanced. Some roasted dark caramel malt as well. Pretty okay. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 2, 2010
Sampled on tap at RockFest (Chicago, IL). Pours a very hazy darker amber, golden edges, small offwhite head. Aromas are banana and spice, zesty yeast and grainy malts, a touch of vanilla and sugar. Initial is medium bodied, fruity and lively, with a touch of toffee and a lot of pear and zesty belgian yeasts. Very tasty, a surprising bitterness on the backend. Very nice. jsf23mr (218) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 2, 2010

Draft from Rock Bottom Chicago. Dark red-brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and dark candi sugars. Flavor is generically Belgian, soft banana and citrus esters. Sticky, sweet candi syrup. Falls apart a bit and is somewhat watery in the finish. Mouthfeel isn’t very Belgian, more American. Somewhat brash and crude. Still has body, though. Estery finish. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2009
