RATINGS: 60   WEIGHTED AVG: 2.27/5   ABV: -
This straw-colored Lager is brewed with Pilsen malt to create an easy drinking beer with a crisp and clean finish. A small portion of Mt. Hood hops lend a subtle spicy hop character to this perfect introduction to handcrafted beer.

Sampled at the brewpub, Chicago: Pale straw yellow color, small layer of a head. Sweet flowery nose, also sweet corn. Light grain and grass taste. Very weak and watery - just boring.

On tap at Rock Bottom Chicago. Light golden pour with a small, weak white head. Typical "light" lager aroma of water and aluminum, but some sweet maltiness is present as well. Thin, watery texture with little flavor other than the sweet malts. Finish is a bit bitter, with a final smack of sourdough bread. This beer was most likely brewed simply to cater to the customer who shows up at a brewpub and tries to order a Bud Light.

For a light beer this is alright but i would never order it. Seriously, who comes to a brewpub and orders a light beer?

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2007 Tap at R.B. Chicago. Poured an extremely light golden with a whirt white head. Weak, but pleasant aroma of sweet malts and light floral hops. Smooth and malt-based flavor with faint floral hops. Light bitterness around the edges... crisp and smooth. Mild honey showed up on the finish, too. Smooth, light, and easy drinkin.

Notes from the Yorktown location (02/07)
Clear bright golden with a moderate cap of white head and some lacing. Dry light bready notes in the aroma along with grains, pale malts, and a hint of lemon. Light and refreshing flavor of sweet pale malts, a hint of lemon, and weak floral bitterness.. touch of caramel sweetness. Light-bodied with higher carbonation and a decent feel.
Same exact scores as my Chicago location rating.

Sample at the brewpub. Very light and clear with a bit of head and some actual lacing! Faintly sour, bathroom sort of aroma at first, but a decent graininess takes over...very light but with some nice crispness and real hoppiness towards the finish.

Chicago. Crystal clear and pale yellow in color with a saliva wisp for the head and a white wrung around the edges. Fresh cotton aroma complimented by lemons, cornmeal and honey squeezed from that cute little plastic bear. Crisp and brisk at first touch, washing quickly across the palate. A staunch lemon-herbed crescent roll fills the gap in its wake. Cleansing, active carbonation. Could have been a lot worse.

You know, most people bitch about this style not being all that good. I think that this beer is a prime example of a good version of this style. Granted, the beer didnt look very nice. It was a clear yellow/straw body. It did have a creamy white head. The aroma has apparent Hallertau hops and was nicely spicy. The flavor is Pilsner-esque. Also malty with some spicy hops. I felt this beer was refreshingly clean. Very unoffensive. The palate was medium-light and clean. Went down very smoothly. I agree with Braudog. This ones good. (very well-made).

Sampled in a taster because my wife asked for a sample of it. Pale yellow with a white head. Slight corn aroma. Very little corn and vegetable taste with a grassy finish. Watery palate. This is the beer the wait staff would bring people who asked for Bud.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2005 The emphasis here is on the word "light." Yellow with an initially fluffy white head, it has little aroma, just some mild sweet grassiness and a shake of floral hopping. It presents a very light mouthfeel, and I almost had to look in a mirror to see if Id perhaps missed my mouth. The light malt flavor finishes crisply with some appreciated hop bitterness. Too light for this one.

Described as "straw-colored" and I agree, with a filmy, white head. Hallertauer hops came across light and herbal in the aroma and gave a mild bitterness to the flavor. Light bodied with a dry finish, this is a good beer on a hot day.
