Sampled on tap at RockFest (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice hazy golden amber, small whitish head, laces ok. Aromas are a blast of hops, grapefruit and gumball, florals and lemon, a touch of tropical fruit is very nice. Pale malts and bread. Initial is lighter medium bodied, good bitterness of grapefruit, gumball, florals, a touch tropical. Pretty good bitterness, solid malts, lingering floral, pine bitterness. Tasty. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2010
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2010 draft at rock bottom chi, pours slight hazed golden amber with white head. nose of red fruit, and hop resin. flavors are sweet juicy red fruit and grapefruit, touch caramelly, resiny finish. sturdy body, touch underattenuated and more like a hoppy red. Draft at RBC. Pours a slight hazed copper with fluffy head. I was surprised to find that it was called Centennial IPA, given the typical nature of the Simcorillo blend being pronounce. The Centennial do bring out some clean C-hop notes, but overall remain subdued. This is another example of Pete’s refining IPA recipes. Loads of tropical fruits and a bracing, slightly harsh bitterness. Malt holds up quite well. Pretty solid IPA.
