Sample and snifter at Rock Bottom Chicago. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Boozy vanilla nose with chocolate and roast. Flavor is whiskey and vanilla giving way to chocolatey malt in the finish. Pretty decent, but the whiskey could be dialed back just a hair. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2010 On tap at rb chi... Pours a silky smooth close to black pour with a thick creamy tan head... Aroma of very smooth chocolate with bourbon and vanilla also thrown into the mix... Flavors remained quite consistent with the aroma. Incredibly smooth and creamy mouthfeel. A little hot and bitter in the finish but doesn’t detract too much away from it’s enjoyability. One of the better barrel-aged impy stouts out there. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2009
On tap at RB chi. Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma of of rye, whiskey, oak, vanilla, raisin, and chocolate. Flavors are loaded with oak, vanilla, rye whiskey, smokey, dark chocolate, and raisin finishes. Lots of intense flavors going on with long finish, and this is a whole different animal than bourbon redline. Med bodied, full mouthfeel. Awesome stuff!
