An unfiltered south-Belgian farmhouse ale brewed with CRANBERRIES and fermented with crazy Belgian yeast at extreme temperatures. We used imported Pilsen malt, Czech Saaz hops and authentic Saison yeast to create a drinkable, tart and refreshing ale that is sure to cool you all off during those hot Summer days.

Draught at the brewpub
Hazy golden color. Quite poor beer, where the fruits add a light acidity and fruity aroma.

A solid beer from Rock Bottom once again. The cranberry stood out just a little bit. The beer was actually surprisingly sweet I have a hard time wanting to get anything other then the barrel aged beers when I go though.

Tap @ RB Chicago – Gold, white creamy head. Nose held faint notes of sweet cranberry and grainy malt throughout. Flavor was very basic, sweet, with just a hint of spicy hops in the end. Light bodied, soft carbonation, light sweet fruity finish. They can’t all be gems here. The only miss for me on this day….

Draft sampler. Gold color. At the end of a sampler flight, there’s no head remaining. Aroma is not easy to discern in a smoky bar, but nice malts and fruits there. Cranberry is there, all right, but unlike many fruit beers, the fruit does not overwhlem the beer because its matched by the fruity tartness of the saison style. Something’s not quite together in my own palate, but it can be very likable.

Sweet and lightly fruity, but not running laps in a track meet of saisons. Well carbonated, small form bubbles, a bit gueuzey as it warms. Not bad. (On tap at brewpub)

Nice. It pours a hazy pale amber body tinted with pink and is topped with a big fluffy white head. Heavy Belgian lacing. The beers are being served too cold at the brewpub, but as it warmed I got a slightly funky, tart aroma in the nose accompanied by drying grasses and an underlying bready sweetness. The cranberries seemed to add more of a tartness than a fruitiness to both aroma and flavor. A dry bitterness is added to the flavor as well as a touch of sourness that intereacted well with the quiet malt sweetness and the cranberry tartness. Nice funky tart finish. I wish they’d feature this one year round.

Thans Drewbeerme for saving me some of your glass. Amber with thin, white head. Fruity, mostly spicy aroma but very mild. Wierd fruit flavor, very sweet, some sour, grainy and wheat. Thin to medium body with little carb. Kind of strange tasting but not bad. Oh by the way Andrew, you’re a great rhymer.

on tap at the brewpub. pours hazy golden with white creamy head. nose has subtle yeasty spice and hay. flavor is initially sharp and tart with berry sweetness then a yeasty and somewhat spicy finish. this never seems to balance and flow throughout the profile as the fruit sends this whole thing off making this way too sweet for the style. more of a fruit beer than a saison and not really fun to drink. mouth feel is watery. carbonation is smooth but finish is short. perhaps fruit and saison don’t belong.

GTMW. Cask Tent. Enjoyed this one early in the festival, and it was perhaps the most refreshing beer on the day. Adding cranberries to a a saison is a marvelous idea, as the bitterness and flavor of the berries interacted well with the lemon and bread notes of the saison. Also present was orange peel and white grape. The finish was cranberry sour. Well done.

On cask at GTMW. Poured hazy medium golden with a creamy cap of off-white head. The aroma was soft and creamy with a solid base of bready notes, light wheat, and lemon rind with sweet and tart cranberry accents. The flavor picked up a lot of cranberry sourness on top of the sweet bread and zesty lemon saison base.. picked up quite a bit from the berries.. tasty and refreshing! Lighter carbonation from the cask treatment with a creamy middle and long sour impression on the finish. This was a highly refreshing and enjoyable summer brew.
