Draft at Rock Bottom-Cincinnati. Pours a pale cloudy gold with an off-white head. Notes of coconut, pineapple, vanilla, sweet bready malts, oak, caramel, florals, and papaya. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, sticky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This one grew on me. Leaned a little sweet and sloppy to start, but settled in to a nice, increasingly complex barrel-aged beer. Well done. Nice surprise. rondphoto (4383) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - APR 17, 2014
@ Rock Bottom / Cincinnati --- Clear, medium copper amber, good head cover, bands of lace. Taste is sweet malt and toffee with a little bourbon barrel in the palate. The sweet never allows bittering to get in the way, moving steadily to a slightly sweet finish that becomes alcohol warmth as the flavors dissipate. Surprisingly enjoyable. Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a clear orangey gold with a sticky white head. The nose is persistent oak and vanilla, lots of bourbon, not much beer. Washed out overall. No fermentation issues in the nose, but mostly oak. On tasting, much the same. Moderate sweetness and drying barrel balance. Vanilla and toasted wood. Draft to at the 7/11 release at Rock Bottom Looks a little thin. Smells like watered-down bourbon. Tastes the same, only a little better. Mouthfeel is average. A little light, but WAY better than the first virtually flat snifter I got served 20 minutes ago (before I said something and the brewmaster took care of it immediately). Mitch is a really nice guy and I know corporate breweries can keep brewer’s hand’s tied, so give him free reign! fonefan (48669) - VestJylland, DENMARK - FEB 12, 2012
