Tap @ Rock Bottom 16th mall street, Denver. Pours hazy dark amber with a thin ring of tan foam along the glass sides. Aroma of malt, sugar, caramel, some hops, sweet fruit. Taste is malty, caramel, fruit, sweet ripe pears, boozy. Medium body, soft carbonation, some alcohol in the finish. 230212

On tap at the brewpub in Fall of 2011. Pours with a clear bronze body and an off-white head. Aromas of overripe fruits, plums, figs, esters and caramel. A bit of bready malt. Dark hued clear amber. Mild aroma but contains sweet bready malts and spicy ripe fruit. Taste has a lot of honey from start to finish. Very sweet yet rounded and not palate assaulting like some other barleywines. Ripe fruits abound with the honey and a warm, subtle alcohol burn. Not too complex but perhaps the most approachable barleywine I’ve had yet.

Draft, 2007 version. Dark gold/light red body with a ¼ inch foamy head. Nose-unsweet honey, brown sugar, maple and brown sugar oatmeal, amber liquid malt extract. Taste-light sawdust, tea, light sausage spice, medium sweet malts, sticky, medium CO2, Dr. Pepper, apple, cherry cough syrup, corn on the backend. Overall a very enjoyable average English/American hybrid barleywine.
