fordest (2469) - Santee/San Diego, California, USA - SEP 17, 2015
Draft at the Santee Bluegrass Festival. One of about 20 IPAs on the field. This one did little to stand out.

September 10th, 2012 - Next in line to be sampled is Rock Bottom’s IPA. I don’t recall there being a label up on the chalk board, but that’s likely my own remission. What my notes describe most closely matches the Ratebeer page for the Mary Jane IPA, so that’s where I’ll stick this. The smell is predominantly grapefruit notes, but as usual wight else tiny only-slightly-bigger-than-thimble style glasses, it’s hard to smell. A little orange juice comes through in the smell, too, whereas the flavor has mostly a bubblegum taste with a dry hop resin pronounced in a very long aftertaste. It’s run of the mill IPA fare, but better than the lighter brews I’ve had here at Rock Bottom - La Jolla so far.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours darkly ruddy amber with a beige head. Aroma is strong mixed hop. Lots of resin for sure. Med body. Mild hop burn. Resin stands out of a mix. Finishes hoppy and bitter. Very nice.

IrishBoy (4233) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Draft at La Jolla. Dry hopped with Chinook on cask. Nose is grapefruit with floral and some papaya. Clear yellow orange with a big heavy lacing off white head. Flavor is very tropical fruity with only moderate bitterness.

bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - JAN 3, 2013
Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light earthy flavor. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Grapefruit and light tropical fruits linger.

Lagunitasfan (1323) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Bartender calls it a red IPA which is a pretty good descriptor. Pour is rich red with tan head and lots of lace. Nose is stinky pine tree west coast hops. Gumball finish but clear. Very nice ipa at 7.5 abv.

AmEricanbrew (7011) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - APR 25, 2011
Clear amber color/ ivory head. Big pine, ganja bud aromas with mild pale malt. medium bodied. Hoppy pine, tropical fruit flavors on a solid caramel malty base--very good, well balanced ipa.

A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. Better than expected, nice resin from the hops, nose was a little weak, but overall pretty tasty

hapjydeuce (1002) - Carlsbad, California, USA - FEB 7, 2010
On tap at the brewpub off La Jolla Village Dr. Clear golden color, good carbonation and fluffy white head. Nose is crisp and clean with grassy hops and citrus. Flavor leans a bit malty, with a quick transition to bitterness that fades quickly. Fairly balanced overall, pretty much your standard West Coast IPA from an average chain brewpub.

3.8
Snojerk321 (2984) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 14, 2009
Tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden orange with a small off white ring. Nice nose of citrus hops and faint caramel malt. Flavor was very citrusy with a nice hop bitterness on the finish, a pretty damn good IPA.
