pours dark amber, slight off-white head. aroma mostly of the bourbon barrel (which is a good thing). but the barrel seems to have mellowed out any citrus, hoppy bitterenss of the ipa (barely distinguishable as such). nice creamy beer, but no hop hit, no grapefruit or pine. The barrel-ageing of this IPA has almost completely shifted it into a nearly entirely malt-forward sticky mess of a beer. Nice dark coppery pour...maybe a touch murky. The nose is all bourbon barrel...oak, bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, etc. The malt sweetness takes center stage, sweet, sticky and palate coating. Some hop bite way off in the distance, just clinging by it’s fingertips. The palate is very sticky and cloying...but I still enjoyed the experiment heartily. Keep up the good work! Not a bad drink, but it’s difficult to tell that this is an IPA. It has a deep amber body with a short off-white head and some spotty lacework. The aroma has a strong Bourbon presence backed by oranges, vanilla, and sweet malt. The flavor is much the same, the vanilla sweetness growing somewhat, and has a touch of old oak to it. Not bad.
