Draft at Rockfest. Pours a little dark for the style, deep brownish bronze with minimal white head. Nose is pils malt and toast, light hop notes as well. Pretty standard "beer" smell to it. Taster glass, guest tap at Rock Bottom Yorktown. No foam in my glass, but it is just a 4 oz. pour. Still, this small sample shows a deeper brown color than for other Mexican Viennas I have met. Simple, light grainy beer smell. Taste is also kind of grainy, like a dark roast bock. I’m reminded, fairly or not, of Schell’s Bock. On tap at Rock Bottom Orland Park. Pours ruby with a foamy tan head. Aroma is of malt, dark fruit, grain, faint hops, and caramel. Taste up front is slightly hoppy, but not enough hoppiness to really make an impact. The backbone consists of caramel malt with notes of dark fruit and grain. Had some strange ubderlying medicinal notes, which caught me by surprised and I disliked. Mouthfeel was very creamy and carbonated. A very drinkable beer, buct lacking in the hop flavor. Served on tap at the brewpuib (Orland Park, IL). Pours a deep dark copper, clear, but pushing solid chestnut and dark deep reds, fairly big dull tan head that cakes and laces very well. Aromas are a bit muted, caramel and toffee malts push through, with a good biscuity sweetness, light nut, with underlying bitterness from some florals. A touch metallic. Initial is lighter, with decent caramel and breadiness, a light spice towards the backend, light bitterness to balance from florals. Cereal into the body. This is a-ok and sessionable at 4.5. Gets a little deeper partway in, more flavor, light toast, good all around for the style. Slight metallic in the finish, similar to their last seasonal. Cheers.

Amber with a vermillion tint. An ecru head is short and unlasting. Grainy aroma with roasted nuts, faint, stale caramel and adjuncty touches of wet dog and street bum. Grainy flavor with a mild malted sweetnes and an earthen bitterness to finish. A little flat in the mouth, but a spritz of carbo adds a tingle to the finish. Alcohol creeps. Drinkable, but it could stand to be a little fuller-bodied. And sweeter.

On tap. Another one of RB’s crafted brews. Poured a nice sleek golden color with good head. Good retention as well, slightly carbonated, decent lacing. To me was a mix between a pilsener style and vienna style. Not your typical Marzen but slightly lighter with hints of sweet malts, caramel and a slight nuttiness. I saw the name and thought we had another Corona clone on our hands. But it’s actually a Vienna, somewhat thin, but not bad. It’s got a deep amber body with a healthy head that does some lasting lacing. The aroma is bready and sweet with caramel. Same with the flavor, although surprizingly a bit of alcohol comes through. Quaffable.
