on tap at RBOP brewpub. amber color, slight offr white head, nice lacing. mild, malty nose, with hints of dried fruit, possibly plum. flavor is very smooth with fruitiness blended with a bit of hoppiness. medium bodied, oily mouthfeel, mildly bitter finish. an ok beer. UPDATED: APR 17, 2008 My original rating on 3/23/2008 was 6/3/7/3/14 - 3.3. Having a full goblet of it at the brewpub necessitated a rerating. The malty sweetness was much more pronounced in the nose and the heat from the alcohol was subdued. In the flavor the hoppy bitterness was cleaner, more herbal/floral and balanced out the malts smoothly. Well done.drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2008
-------- />This has an almost cloudy, hazy body and no head to speak of. The aroma is full of tofee and caramel and a strong alcohol smell that almost comes across like nail polish. Very malty to taste and the flavor is further sweetened with dark dried fruits while being hot with the alcohol. A bark-like bitterness builds up near the end and lasts through the finish along with a sharp alcohol burn. I think this will all mellow out with some aging.
